Get Ready 04:17
Get Ready Ready for hard times Get Ready For the heavy load Get Ready Ready for the who knows who knows who knows what Get Ready Get Ready Ready the fire Get Ready Ready for the flood Get ready Don’t let the high road Drag you down low Cause this old world keeps on turning around and round This old world it keeps on turning around There won't be no returning from where you're bound This old world it keeps turning around So get ready Get ready Ready for the lowdown Get ready To step it up and go Get ready Get to pay the devil back Back what you owe Cause this old world keeps on turning around and round This old world it keeps on turning around There won't be no returning from where you're bound But this old world it keeps turning around What now Your luck is run out Run ragged and weak Well, somehow It's all crashing down Life goes past like a bullwhip lash in the breeze And no one knows what's coming so you better hold steady Are you ready?

Nancy 03:42
In the night The facts fail to alter The disguise She appears like a dream It's a dream There's no waking up from Won't believe A single thing you've seen She must be a prayer 'cause when she walks by All the righteous people bow their heads They all want what she has to give But I know what the reason is No one's asking Don't you call him a Nancy no more Don't you call him a Nancy no more Don't get caught in the lie In a month or two he'll be somebody new And you'll cry Oh Nancy she's out of sight! It's a lust More frequent than failure It's a death Too fantastic too die It's a miracle That grew tired of waiting That's how it feels whenever Nancy walks by It's a storm that was born from a sigh in high heels They all moan as the rumour grows Under the clothes of the men who all know It's a secret that no one can win No one's asking Don't you call him a Nancy no more Don't you call him a Nancy no more Don't get caught in the lie In a month or two he'll be somebody new And you'll cry Oh Nancy she's out of sight! In the night The brink of disaster Feels alright Down 29th street Your heart pounds Along to her footsteps Every stride Is a masterpiece She strikes a match on her hip Stockings run, can't resist Step inside baby it's no sin No one's asking. Don't you call him a Nancy no more Don't you call him a Nancy no more Don't get caught in the lie In a month or two he'll be somebody new And you'll cry Oh Nancy she's out of sight!

Forever Fool 04:32
I don't want to be your fool forever I don't want to be your backdoor man I ain't much of a forgiver/forgetter I've had about as much of this as I can stand Tilt the bottle way back Don't be such a sad sack I don't want to hear the words now or never Sell me something real I know what I have to do I know what I want to do I've nailed the coffin closed I'm giving up the ghost I can hear 'em saying that I should have known better You walked all over me I took it all in stride They say 'the courage of the coward's greater than any other' So watch your back baby and step aside Got you where I want you now Love ain't what it's all about I don't want to hear the words now or never Sell me something real I know what I have to do I know what I want to do I've nailed the coffin closed I'm giving up the ghost I don’t wanna be your fool forever Forever fool, forever fool

I'm Back 04:54
I was living in a landmine Waiting for the click. Sinking down the fault lines On a one-way head-trip I went to sleep like a baby But I woke an old man A voice told me to get back To where it all began And now I’m back I’m back I’m back I was dragging my heels through the wilderness Dragging my heart through the mud Being dragged to the brink of despair I coulda sworn it was love Now they said it in the bible Can’t teach an old dog new tricks ‘Cause I’m a hound on a high-wire And I ain’t gonna slip Ya I’m back I’m back I’m back Felt I was lifting from the ground But now I’m back I’m back Come all you doubters, you movers and shakers Come all you takers, you blood money makers Come all you haters, who held yourselves greater All you cocaine Christians, you silver tongued traitors I’m back

The wind blows through my open window Wish it’d quit its moaning and crying Reminds of the state you'd leave me in Almost every night Got Betty Everett on the stereo And other voices from the past trying to let me know You're no good for me why do I even try Why can't you ever treat me kind Like I want you to Like you used to do When I was no one's man When you're done lying to me Come crying to me Make it all worth my while Maybe Someday somewhere further down the line You'll treat me kind You'll treat me kind You'll treat me kind Baby be kind

Running 03:48
Read all about it I’ve hit a few bumps on the road No need to shout it Cause Baby I know, maybe I know I’m a flood of water when your wanting wine A real quick fix when you have time I’m the restless kind, but I’m not running I’m not running anymore With a mess like ours All the richest scars I got my feet glued to the floor Oh Running I’m not running anymore ‘Cause we’ve been through hell So what the hell Baby let’s go, baby let’s go, baby let’s go for broke We’re all connected Like a chain of dominoes You’ve been neglected And Baby I know, Baby I know With your charcoal eyes, and your stained glass heart Your ruby lips like a cherry tart I’ve been near and far but I’m not running I’m not running anymore With a mess like ours All the richest scars I got my feet glued to the floor Oh Running I’m not running anymore ‘Cause we’ve been through hell So what the hell Baby let’s go, baby let’s go, baby let’s go for broke I’ve been searching for a remedy Just to find the sickness is gone When you need me, you can find me And maybe someday you’ll get tired of all the running I’m not running anymore Oh Running

Fragile 03:51
Don’t be fooled by the sun in your eyes And don’t be unmade by the maker’s desire And don’t be cut down by the rising tides You’re fragile A rose in a riptide Whisper in Crossfire You’re fragile Don’t be betrayed by the kiss of a friend Don’t be deceived by the fool in your head And don’t be brought down by the weight of the world You’re fragile A Rose in a riptide A Whisper in crossfire Napoleon in exile You’re fragile

about

There once was an era when records were made in castles, abandoned airplane hangers, barns, or on a yacht off the coast of the Bahamas, its passengers as high as paper kites. This is not that record! It is an album that came together from the desire for companionship, the endless pursuit of tone, the strength and glue of family, and above all, the love and admiration for each other’s skills. Whether it was operating a tape machine with Jedi precision, creating meals that fuelled us, or belting out glass shattering ohs and ahs, it was the elbow grease of many individuals that brought this project to life.

Thank you to our families for continuing to put up with all that comes with being a touring musician. Emily, Oliver, August, Lindsay, Quincy, and Leo, we couldn’t do it without you. Our parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins for continued love and support. Ben Rogers for helping keep melodies catchy and lyrics on point, as well as for turning our sonic world into a graphical world. John Raham for keeping us calm and collected and laying down some fat beats. Erik Nielsen and Brendan Guy for keeping the studio tubes warm. Cam Boyer for popping into the studio at the drop of a hat. Dawn Pemberton, Alexa Dirks and Andrina Turenne for singing their f$%^ing hearts out. Georff Hilhorst for understanding what a “school bus on a skating rink” sounds like on the organ. Khari Wendell McClelland, Ben Rogers, Erik Nielsen, and Ricardo Khayatte for adding some vocal beer. Kate Wattie and the team at Tonic for keeping the biz wheels rolling. Kali Malinka for keeping the presses printing. Grant Paley and the team at Paquin for keeping us gigging. – Matt & Shawn
